KINGSTON - A change of venue and a change of event did not change the outcome.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's Ryan Kelly closed out her stellar high school
career by placing second at the New York State Public High School
Athletic Association Girls Track and Field championship on Friday. The
Red Devils' senior was runner up in Division II in the 400 last year at
St. Lawrence University. Kelly opted to run the 400 hurdles instead
this year and it paid off in another silver medal as she clocked a
1:05.73. The only runner better on a steamy afternoon was Waterloo's
Brooklyn Ventura. The Section V sophomore posted a 1:03.98 to dominate
the field but Kelly improved upon her No. 4 seed with a time just off a
personal record. Full story at Oneida Dispatch.
