APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) A searchable, on-line database with recall Walker signatures is proving to be a big hit... if you have patience.

We first told you about VerifyTheRecall.com earlier this week.  Now organizers of the site say they've had more than a million hits.

Verify the Recall promises a wait-time of 20 seconds to perform a search but in reality, it's taking hours.  We logged on at 10:30 Friday morning and we still haven't been able to fully access the site.  The database is backed by two state Tea Party groups.  It launched Wednesday night.  Organizers tell us within the first 20 minutes, they had 50,000 hits.  24 hours later they reached a million views.  It's bombarded their two servers and caused many to lose patience.

After citizen reviews, organizers say there have been some reports of discrepancies.

"It's never really been the quest of Verify the Recall that we would stop the recall.  It's always been that we just want to preserve transparency," says Communication Director Larry Gamble.  "We were just notified that someone in Milton actually used the address of Milton High School to sign a petition."

Of course, the catalyst to the recall Walker movement was the end of collective bargaining.  Friday night, groups across the state are marking the historic anniversary with candlelight vigils.  The one in Appleton's Houdini Plaza kicks off at 6PM.
