Redistricting: Hochul Will Not Run Against Higgins

Updated: March 20, 2012
Congresswoman Kathy Hochul (NY-26) is finding herself in an interesting position this election year.

Under new redistricting lines, the democrat lives in a town that already has representation. She lives in Amherst. Currently, that town is part of her district that also spans Monroe County and other parts of Western New York. Under the new lines, Amherst would be part of Congressman Brian Higgins' (NY-27) district. Hochul's team tells News 8 she has no plans to challenge the fellow Democrat. Instead, she would likely seek election in the other Buffalo-area district.

The new redistricting lines are scheduled to be approved toward the end of March.
