Utica man accused of stealing from 90-year-old woman over past six months

A Utica man is facing burglary-related charges after being accused of stealing from a 90-year-old woman over the past six months.
31-year-old Omar Torres reportedly
entered the woman's home on Bacon Street and stole numerous items, including
cash.
After the most recent incident, Torres contacted the victim and offered to sell
back her belongings. The victim contacted the Elder Abuse Coalition Program who
then called police.
Torres used two children to get the money from the victim in exchange for the
stolen property.
He is charged with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal
Possession of Stolen Property, 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
and Grand Larceny by Extortion.
