Ten people are homeless and a Utica woman is under arrest and facing a felony arson charge.

According to Utica Police, Joann Calicchia, 44, intentionally tried to burn down her Grant Street home on April 15, 2012.

Police say she started a fire in the fire pit in front of her house by igniting her husband's clothes.

That fire was put out without any problems.

Police say Calicchia then started a fire on the front porch of the house she was renting, while the first floor tenants were inside.

Those three adults and four children are unharmed.

Police say the building is owned by Manuel Hernandez of Brockton, Massachusetts.

The Red Cross was notified and is providing assistance.

The cause of the fire will remain under investigation.
