By: WUTR Eyewitness News
Updated: May 29, 2012
Herkimer County Community College graduates will be wearing caps and gowns made of 100% recycled water bottles this spring.

The fabric is spun from molten plastic pellets.

It takes 23 bottles to make each gown.

Around 500 gowns will be worn on the May 18th commencement--that's around 11,500 reused plastic bottles.
