Over five hundred area men and women in Central New York dressed in red, all for a good cause.
Community members gathered at the Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro, raising over $70,000 for this year's Go Red for Women Luncheon to fight against heart disease and stroke.
Keynote speaker, Christine Hughes of Oriskany shared her story as a survivor of heart disease.
She wants the community to be aware this condition just doesn't affect older people.
"Know your body, know the signs, signs can be different for every person and not every time the signs are the same. Talk to your doctor and get in that health regiment and get healthy for your heart's sake," said Hughes.
Christine had a stroke when she was just 25-years old.
She says she hopes her journey as a heart survivor can encourage others to support heart research.
