Various organizations along with the county executive announced the SEMI High Tech U Teacher Edition program, a two-day hands on experience that will focus on microelectronics and alternative energy.

This conference will allow teachers to incorporate what they learned in their curriculum.

"A part of this is to look at increasing opportunities for students. The semi-microelectronic industry is certainly not only growing in our state, but within our region. I think it's imperative to have students understand the tremendous opportunity that they have," said OHM BOCES Superintendent, Howard Mettleman.

The program is being funded by partners within Oneida County. Nearly forty teachers that volunteered to attend the program will also be going to Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
