Father Valentine Krul is asking his family, friends and the church for forgiveness for stealing church funds.

The 61-year-old priest was sentenced today to five years probation after serving six months at Oneida County Jail.

The man known as Father Val admitted to stealing nearly $ 90,000 from St. Mary's in New York mills over the past three years.

"He is just looking to hopefully going back to work with the Dioceses of Syracuse. He has been in communication with them. Hopefully continue to be a priest. That is his goal right now to work with the Dioceses again and go back to his priestly duties," said William Borrill, Krul's attorney.

Krul's attorney says his client has cashed in his full retirement and has sold the condo he bought in Florida with the church's money to help pay restitution.
