Some members at Upstate Cerebral Palsy were awarded for their creativity at the 7th annual "Pieces of Heart" art show today.
A variety of art work was on display. Artists worked with watercolor and acrylics to print-making and pottery. Representatives at Upstate Cerebral Palsy say today's event raises awareness of talents of those with special needs.
"Through art they don't feel trapped. They can really express what is going on with themselves in their surroundings and it is a great outlet for them. It's a great sense of accomplishment for them when we have an awards ceremony," said Susan Macrina, the Recreations Specialist.
Members used a laser point system to make the art, painting in their mind through sight and "yes" and "no" responses.
Organizers say they hope to one day sell the artwork.
