Today one area hospital unveiled a new $31 million expansion project aimed at helping patients rehab better. Faxton St. Luke's healthcare officially opened their newly renovated acute inpatient rehab unit. The new unit offers over twenty beds to help patients transition back into everyday life. Faxton's says this renovated facility simulates typical household activities. They say the new unit is a big win for Oneida County.
Mini Malhotra, Vice President of Strategic Integration says, "This facility will be able to provide much more quality care because all of the services are at the same level, our gym, our inpatient unit all are at the same level and our therapist will have more opportunity and our nursing have more opportunity to provide care in this newly enhanced environment with more equipment and state of the art technology."
The new facility took two years to complete. And part of the facility was decorated with an Adirondack theme, to give patients a home-like feeling.
