It was all about girl power this evening at the Radisson Hotel. Each
October, the Mohawk Valley chapter of New York State Women Inc. holds
its "Woman of the Year" awards dinner.
Three area women are honored for giving their time and commitment to the community every day. Eyewitness News spoke with recipients who say they couldn't be more proud.
"My work and my profession and helping in the community, it's really just part of my job. So i'm very humbled to receive this award for just doing what i normally do every day but it's really quite an honor," says Filomain Talerico, honoree.
"Utica is a wonderful community and it's terrific that I've been able to spend most of my career here and I just hope I can continue to give back to this community that has given me so much," says Darby O'Brien, honoree.
The women honored tonight are Sonia Martinez with the Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Darby O'Brien with the Utica Public Library, and Filomain Talerico with St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
