A Utica College alum returns to campus to share his personal survival story about his brain injury. Chris Hotaling was teaching at a New York City high school 13 years ago.

It was during a fire alarm when he was leaving the building when a student accidentally hit him with a steel door.

Today, he spoke to some health care students at Utica College about strategies they can use to help others touched by such trauma.

"Often times they are doing their jobs. A very hard and honorable job. But how can they bring their humanity into their work so they can project that belief that their patients can get better," said Hotaling.

Chris and his wife have written a book about the journey on Chris' road to recovery.
