Nearly three out of every four Americans knows someone directly affected by domestic violence. That's why today Utica College hosted a special forum for the public. Area officials held a panel style discussion for dozens of students. October is domestic violence awareness month but some feel people should be aware year round.

Panel speaker Deb Galotti of The YWCA says, "Everyday effort for people to be aware that this is happening. So, just because it's October for domestic violence awareness month, but this happens every day. It just allows us that opportunity because news reporters and everybody comes to us because it's October but it's something that should be addressed, it happens every day."

For more information on domestic violence you can contact the YWCA.
