You've seen the debates, heard the issues, and now, it's just about time to hit the polls for the 2012 Election.

"I hope my vote at least casts some difference with both parties that they need to change," said Michael Krusinski, who plans on voting in Tuesday's election.

"Citizens should always get out there and vote. They have a say in who they want to run the country," said Mike Jones, who will be voting in his first election.

And while presidential elections come around once every four years, The Oneida County Board of Elections is gearing up for it's fourth run of the year.

"We have everything organized the way we've been organizing it. Our machines are all out, the bags have been delivered or picked up," said Republican Commissioner, Pamela Mandryck.

Although things have gone smoothly the past three elections, Mandryck says a common mistake voters make is circling the candidate of their choice and also writing their name in the write-in box.

"That's considered an over vote, double vote, and the entire race is discounted," she said "Once you vote for someone, you don't have to write their name in because if you do, then the votes not going to count."

With an Oneida County proposition, and several others in the City of Utica, Mandryck also wants to remind voters in those areas to check the back of the ballots.

"Your candidates are going to be on one side, and your propositions are on the other. If you truly want to have a full participation in the event, and the decisions that are being made, look at your entire ballot," said Mandryck.

If you have any questions, or are not sure about where to vote in Oneida County, you can call the Board of Elections at 315-798-5765.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
