One area business is expanding their product outside Central New York.

Aqua Vita Farms in Sherrill announced that they'll now be delivering their aquaponic lettuce mix to New York City restaurants.

Senator Joseph Griffo toured the facility today to learn more about aquaponic farms.

The business uses a combination of hydroponics, which is growing plants without soil and aqua-culture, which is fish farming.

"It goes to what we are talking about, sustainability, home-grown products. These are products that are obviously with no chemicals. It is so important now that we are looking towards organic industry growth," said Senator Joseph Griffo, (R) 47th District.

Aqua vita farms is one of the few aquaponic farms in the country producing on a wholesale level.

The business grows aquaponic lettuce mix and produces fresh fish.
