The Oneida County Historical Society is changing its hours in an effort to better serve the public with limited resources.

The museum is no longer open Saturdays. The museum, which had been closed on Sundays and Mondays, will add two hours to its weekly schedule by opening its doors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"We do have to use the time that we're open to the public very judicially. With the declining numbers that we've seen on the weekends, along with the desire to move the society forward in a new and hopefully more fruitful direction, it made sense for us to go to a Monday to Friday schedule," says executive director Brian Howard.

To accommodate students and people who work during the week, Howard says the museum will be accessible by appointment on Saturdays.
