A national movement to raise awareness about Federal Indian Policy came to Central New York today.

The Citizens Equal Rights Alliance says its mission is to debate federal policies and regulations between the U.S. Government and Indian tribes.

The chairperson says there are various policies affecting our area government, including casino gambling and sales and property taxes.

"The economic problem that I see is created by the non-remittance of taxes. For every tax that is collected and not remitted on the gasoline, sales tax and the land, my taxes have to make up," said Chairperson Judy Bachmann.

The group says they'd like to see a level playing field for other businesses regarding taxes.
