Some of the brave and heroic men and women of our community were honored tonight. You may remember the devastating fire at Adrean Terrace apartments on Armory Drive in Utica a few weeks ago.

Because of their service and team-work that was provided on the day of the fire, the City Common Council honored the Utica Fire and Police Departments for saving the life of 4-year-old Halima Haji. Although some people call them heroes, the first responders say it's just part of their job.

"We are very happy of the outcome of this girl being revived and her remarkable story now and her success, she's home now. We don't require any recognition for the job that we're paid to do. we do it with pride and we continue with our training and education so we can make sure we can provide the utmost care for the citizens of the city of Utica," says Brian Bova Sr., Utica paramedic fire fighter.

The six firefighters and a police officer were honored in front of a crowd at city hall including the little girl's family.
