Seneca Street Elementary School in Oneida is competing internationally for a chance to win a grand prize of $60,000.

It's a competition to showcase how schools incorporate technology into their programs. They need your help to win that money.

They submitted an essay and created a video. The school is currently in third place and to come out on top they need as many votes as they can get!

"Sometimes we use iPads, sometimes we use the computers," said 4th grader, Hannah Loosman.

Students at Seneca Street Elementary use everyday technology to learn.

Like Hannah, students study in the library twice a week where they use their laptops and iPads to work on assignments.

They agree it's better than sitting in a classroom scribbling notes.

"It's a lot easier for us to learn and it's a lot more fun," said 10-year-old Dylan McClelland.

Mrs. Lennox, the librarian is the mastermind coming up with creative ways to engage her students. So, when she heard about a competition regarding technology and education she was all for it.

"They wanted libraries that have innovative programs and who collaborate with school teachers. That is the main focus," said Kalpana Lennox, the school's librarian.

The book and software company Follett is giving away six prizes, one of them being $60,000. Over 100 schools are competing for that grant money.

The contenders must show how teachers are using technology, such as iPads and computers to help prepare students for the future.

The last day to vote is March 18th. Mrs. Lennox says if they win the grant she hopes to form a committee to figure out how to spend that money.
