Residents who couldn't evacuate buildings say they were in contact with police all night

As law enforcement agencies were trying to communicate with the suspect, Kurt Myers all through the night, residents in the next door building had a bird's eye view of all the action.
Police would not let residents living next to the abandoned building once known as Glory Days evacuate.
Residents were in contact with police throughout the night. Although many of them wanted to get out of their apartments, they understood it was for their own safety.
"I just wanted to get out for a little bit, get out of the building. We went over to the diner and had breakfast with my mother," said Michael Pollock.
Nearly 24 hours later, Michael Pollock and his daughter were free to leave their apartment.
"I had a good view of the cops across the street and the swat teams and the state troopers. We heard a lot of high pitched frequency sounds. Gun shots and the cops shouting telling the guy to come out with his hands up," explained Pollock.
Michael lives on the 2nd floor of the apartment complex right next door to the abandoned building once known as Glory Days.
"I was supposed to go grocery shopping, but it got interrupted," said Pollock.
The day turned into taking pictures and keepingA up to date on the standoff situation next door.
It was the same story for many of the residents living in that building. Jacob brown made sure his neighbors were well-informed and calm.
"My wall is literally next to glory days. I could hear everything inside. At 7:30 a.m. this morning I could hear the gunshots," said brown.
A couple of buildings over no one could get in or out of the Van Kirk.
Tenant Rebekah Cunningham did not only have to worry about her 2-year-old son- but, she was also concerned with her other son on the way.
"I was really afraid I was going to go in labor. I was having contractions because I was so stressed out of what was going on. And my fianc wasn't allowed to come inside," said Cunningham.
Residents were able to leave around 9 this morning. Some even had to call out of work because they couldn't leave any sooner. Although things did not end peacefully, they are grateful the standoff situation is over.
