Steele Files Candidacy for North Little Rock Mayor

State Representative Tracy Steele has made it official that he's running for North Little Rock mayor.

Steele turned in petition signatures and officially filed his candidacy this morning.

"I am excited about the future of North Little Rock and would be honored to serve as your Mayor" said Steele. "Over the past 14 years, I have enjoyed every moment serving as a lawmaker representing the people of North Little Rock while also raising a family of my own. I worked closely with four Arkansas governors to put policies in place that have improved the lives of people in North Little Rock. It is this experience that gives me an understanding of the strengths and challenges of our community and the drive to lead this city."

"As Mayor, I will build on the areas where we are strong and take responsible action where we need to improve. I will help create an economic environment that will successfully recruit jobs and provide the support and resources to expand businesses that are already doing business in our city. North Little Rock does not need business as usual; we must be assertive, take careful but bold steps to build on the good that has been done and be ready to make responsible improvements where needed," Steele said. "North Little Rock deserves a city leader that sincerely encourages public input, is fair, above board, completely transparent, and never forgets that we work for the people of our city, not the other way around."

"I will ensure that we support our schools, and give our public servants - our teachers, police officers, firefighters, and city employees--the dignity and respect they deserve. I will hold our public servants accountable and be good stewards of all city resources while providing the services that our taxpayers deserve," Steele said.
