CHARLOTTE, NC -- It's official. President Barack Obama accepted the nomination of his party, then laid out reasons he should be re-elected.

Thursday is the final day of the Democratic National Convention, and the President did not disappoint delegates. But what happens to those delegates after they leave the convention? WCIA-3's Steve Staeger has answers from your Local Election Headquarters.

While Democrats cheered Obama, GOP Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan was at a rally in Colorado Springs. Mitt Romney is in Vermont prepping for his debates next month.

Hours before the President made his speech, another emotional moment became a highlight of the convention. Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords took the stage and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

She had help from her friend and colleague, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Giffords survived being shot in the head at point-blank range in January 2011. She resigned from Congress earlier this year to continue her rehabilitation.
