In the race for the 16th Congressional District seat, Republican Adam Kinzinger is facing Democrat Wanda Rohl.   During the last few months, Illinois' jobless rates have continued to climb up.
We're finding out what the candidates think needs to be done to reverse the trend.

Wanda Rohl:
"We have to have a conversation in this country about what type of manufacturing we're going to have, what types of jobs we're going to have and that means that there has to be an even playing field. So, if we increase tariffs and we decrease any type of incentive to leave the country, and also I'd really like to see our federal tax dollars used in this country with American companies using American workers.. That would increase employment. Also, we've laid off how many thousands of teachers and firefighters and police officers and I do believe that our unemployment rate would be lower if we stopped attacking public employees."

Adam Kinzinger:
"We need a new governor, that's the first part. We need a new leader in the state house. I mean, the reality is the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We've left Mike Madigan in office for decades and we continue to see the decline in jobs in this state, we see jobs running away, we see ourselves in greater debt. We had a massive increase in this state, but we still are desperately trying to figure out how to balance our budget and we can't do it. So, I think it's time for new leadership in the state of Illinois. And it's time for Illinois to say we're no different than Wisconsin, Indiana, we can create jobs here. It just time to understand that we have to sometimes break away from the past and bring in new leadership and that's what we need in this state."
