Parkway School in Whitesboro was hit by the flooding last week. Water in the basement of the school got into the electrical system and sparked an electrical issue. Students have been re-located to other parts of the Whitesboro Middle School Campus until everything is deemed safe. The school says it has National Grid and construction companies working on the school to ensure all damage is repaired.
The principal of the middle school says tests are being run to make sure students and faculty return to a safe environment. "We're fortunate that we have a resilient group of students," says Whitesboro Middle School Principal Christopher Staats. "As soon as we have the clear from every construction firm and the superintendent of schools we will be returning to Parkway with business as usual." 6th grade students have been using the 7th and 8th grade building on the same campus while their school is being fixed. Mr. Staats says he's hoping students will be back in Parkway by the end of the week.
