The Rescue Mission of Utica received a generous donation today from a Central New York family. The Marley Family donated $8000 in honor of their son and brother, Patrick Marley. Marley was a resident and employee of the Rescue Mission. He spent over two years of his life receiving treatment and working in the Mission's food service. He died during a swimming accident in 2009. Mike Marley, Patrick's brother, remembers how much the Rescue Mission meant to his brother. "Well Patrick had a lot of friends down here and he gained a lot of friends. Not only did he gain the friends but he was so thankful that they were there for him when he needed them the most."
The Marley Family raised the funds for the donation through the annual Patrick Marley Memorial Golf Tournament held in August. They hope to continue holding the tournament and donating the profits every year.
