Service Advisor, Michael Lupia, at Carbone Dodge in Yorkville says it's important to make sure all coolant levels are topped off, as well as other factors.
"We also like to focus on tires, most vehicles are equipped with a tire and monitoring system that can monitor the tire and air pressure for you," said Lupia.
Having the appropriate tires can play a big part in safety and preventing future accidents.
Lupia says most cars come with all season tires to bare the winter weather.
But, there are also other options to ensure the most safety.
"It's nice to have a winter tire. Like I said, some people do like to use a winter tire in the wintertime. They are a little bit softer compound so it gives you a better grip to the road.
Lupia has other things that you an do to make sure everything is working properly without even stepping foot into a shop.
Lupia suggests checking the tire pressure each time you get gas to ensure your tires are safe during the winter.
He says it's also important to have the proper size and tread on tires when driving.
"You won't have as much control on your vehicle with having bald tires on there. It's important for safety issues as far as driving. You definitely want to make sure you have proper contact to the road," said Lupia.
