Updated: December 5, 2011

The public is invited to attend an educational forum to get our future leaders and workforce prepared for jobs in the science and technology fields or for skilled labor opportunities, says 116th Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

The forum will take place on Monday, December 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the student center at SUNY IT in Marcy.

Brindisi says the forum will focus on improving the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum in area school districts and colleges.

"I have been meeting with business owners, educators and labor representatives for several months and one of the big concerns I frequently hear is about making sure our local students have the skills to support new industry and workforce development needs, especially in the semiconductor, nanotechnology, cyber security and clean technology fields," says Brindisi.

There will be a group of panelists from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University of Albany and various other agencies discussing the what students and the workforce need to do to better prepare themselves for new jobs coming to the region.

To pre-register for the event, email Mr. Brindisi's office at brindisia@assembly.state.ny.us or call the Utica District Office at 315-732-1055.
