Sophomore goalie Nick Therrien of the nationally-ranked No. 9 Utica College men's hockey team stopped all 30 shots he faced Friday night as the Pioneers topped visiting Potsdam State 1-0 at the Aud.  For his efforts he was named the ECAC Men's West Conference Goalie of the Week.  The award marks the second time in his career that he has earned the conference's top weekly honor for goaltenders.

Therrien, who typically splits time in net with teammate
Evan Smith, has had an impressive season thus far.  He ranks fifth nationally in both goals against average (1.84) and save percentage (.933) and he is one of just five goaltenders in all of Division III men's hockey to have an undefeated record (4-0).

Over the course of 20 career games, Therrien boasts a 12-4 overall record and a 2.17 goals against average.  He now has three career shut outs.

The Pioneers (8-3), who moved up one spot from last week in the most recent USCHO.com national poll, wrapped up the first semester with two consecutive shut outs this past weekend at home.  The double-dip including an impressive 12-0 win over Salve Regina where the Pioneers sold out the Utica Memorial Auditorium for the first time in program-history. They will return to the ice on the road on Dec. 30th when they travel to the Plattsburgh Invitational to take on Castleton State at 4 p.m.
