Utica College soccer player Jonathan Peterson named all-region by NSCAA.

Sophomore forward Jonathon Peterson of the Utica College men's soccer team was named to the 2011 NCAA Men's Division III All-East Region third team released Saturday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). 

Peterson, who is originally from Bedford, NH, finished the season ranked third on the team in scoring with 16 points on five goals and six assists. He finished tied for third in the Empire 8 Conference in assists, averaging .35 per game.  In his first two seasons as a Pioneer, Peterson has started in 32 games and he has tallied 36 points, including 14 goals and eight assists.


Peterson was also an Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection for his efforts on the field this season.  He finished the year on a tear, scoring at least one point in each of his final five contests. He also netted two straight game-winners against Alfred (2-1) and Hunter (1-0) on his way to earning Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week status. 


The Pioneers concluded their 2011 season with an overall record of 11-7 including a 2-4 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. UC will lose Jonathon Wood,
Shane Wittemann, Steven Romero and Jeff Kassouf to graduation and will look to its 21 returners to lead the way in 2012.
