College students need to plan ahead for Wisconsin recall elections

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) If the dates for the upcoming recall primary and election in Wisconsin fall in early May and the first full week in June, respectively, it might cause some problems for college students.
Many would still be on campus for the primary, tentatively scheduled for May 8th. If students are registered to vote on campus, they'll likely have to vote absentee when they return "home" for the general election. That could happen as early as June 5th.
Voters need to establish residency for 28 days before they can register. Some Election Clerks we spoke with say students living in districts with recall elections for state senators could end up missing out on those races if they are registered on campus, or vice versa.
"I was not aware of that," says UW Oshkosh student Jasmine Buchberger. "I received a letter in the mail about voting locations, but I haven't thought about that very much, no."
Students also worry the primary will fall during the last few weeks of classes right as they are gearing up for final exams.
