State of the State Address Has Some Local Leaders Disappointed

Governor Cuomo says 2011 was a successful yet challenging year for the state of New York.
For the new year-- he has outlined a three part plan for a "new" New York that will help build on the success of last year.
A "new" New York by growing the economy, reinventing state government, and advancing New York as a progressive leader.
Area leaders in central New York attended the event. And although they say governor Cuomo's address was uplifting and promising-- they hope to see more action taken in our area.
"I'd like to hear more about how nanotechnology will be affecting our area. What kind of public or private partnerships we are building concerning nanotechnology. But I think investments in SUNYIT, we need to talk more about that. And I hope in his proposals we see that," said Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of the 116th District.
"I'm most disappointed in what I didn't hear and that is more about mandate relief. I know there was a small part in the state about that but they didn't mention Medicaid. It didn't mention the promises made by the Governor and even from the state legislative leaders. I am a little concerned about that right now, but I will see what the Governor proposes in the next eighteen days. It will be a little more in detail, said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, Jr.
" A number of interesting ideas and approaches whether looking at how we are going to reform education or what we are going to do to redevelop our infrastructure.. not just roads and bridges but energy. A lot of ideas now that we will see being flushed out in the next couple of weeks," said 47th District Senator Joseph Griffo.
Governor Cuomo also talked about his commitment to the recovery in different parts of the state hit hard by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
Governor Cuomo closed his address-- saying 2012 is the year that we make New York the Empire State once again.
