Local Police Join Forces with Canadian Border Patrol for Easter Weekend

By: WUTR Eyewitness News

If you're thinking of going over the border this holiday weekend, drive carefully.

Area State Troopers will be teaming up with the Canadian border patrol to improve road safety on both sides of the border this upcoming Easter weekend.

Police will be keeping an eye out for speeders, texters, and other crash-causing violations.

Major Rodney Campbell says as traffic volume rises, the potential for crashes increases.

The Safety Without Borders initiative was developed last year to improve traffic safety during holidays with high traffic volume.

During the initiative last year, over 1,100 tickets were issued in just one day.
