The first ever Trout Power Fishing Tournament and Creel Study will be kicking off this summer.

The weekend long tournament is an idea to help bring more awareness around the West Canada Creek.

Creators of the event also hope that this will shine some light on small and large businesses for tourism in the area.

"When you go through Russia, Poland, and Newport, and Barneveld, you see the reminiscent of those days and those memories. We want to bring a spotlight back to the area and give people an opportunity to embrace something that is unique to them, and that's the West Canada Creek," said Co-Founder, Angela Moonan.

The official date of the Trout Power Tournament is set for June 8th.

Organizers say they hope to see this as a continuing Summer tradition.
