City of Utica Department managers and public safety officials gathered today for the 5th Quality of Life Sweep in Utica.

Workers met at the corner of Court and Lincoln Streets earlier today.

Employees kept an eye out for code violations, picked up trash and cleaned up the area.

Some residents say they appreciate the mayor getting out of the office to hit the streets.

"A lot of the issues are the drug dealers and garbage all over the place. It's really the main issues. I hope it brings awareness to the people who are doing this that there is someone who will be watching and not letting them get away with it," said Kathy Sykes, a Utica resident.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri says he'll schedule these sweeps every Wednesday throughout the year in various parts of the city.
