Memorial Day is being honored in all different ways across our area. Yorkville held Memorial Day services this afternoon to reflect and remember our veterans and current active soldiers.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi spoke at the services, reminding community members to honor our service men and women all year round.

"Sometimes we take for granted the freedoms that we have at home. It's important to remember that there are young men and women making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom overseas. It's important that we honor their service and their memory on memorial day and all year long."

Both adults and children paid their respects at the Yorkville services. There was a wreath laying ceremony as well as a gun salute to honor our nation's fallen.
