"It's almost like the two breweries were positioned for a run." Brewery Ommegang and Cooperstown Brewing Company will host the inaugural brewery to brewery run this weekend to benefit habitat for humanity. And this charity run all started with the one man's idea. Oscar Oberkicher says, "Several years ago I had the opportunity to run the last brewery to brewery run which was organized by the Delsego Home Brewers and it was such a lot of fun and then it stopped." John Tuchowski, Events Coordinator at Brewery Ommegang, says, "This is the first brewery to brewery run for this area. Once upon a time we did have another event that was similar to this, but this is the first fun run that we're doing for charity."

But now thanks to Oscar and a few SUNY Oneonta students, the brewery fun run is back. And Brewery Ommegang  says this is great opportunity to help people out right here and across the country. Tuchowski added, "We were pretty much approached with this idea of a great way of tying in the two local breweries in Cooperstown New York. And that's obviously Brewery Ommegang and And then the Cooperstown Brewing Company. We decided that one of the great ways to promote awareness for Habitat for Humanity would be to have a fun run between the two breweries."

The run is just over 5K and it ends here at Brewery Ommegang, where runners get to cool off with an ice cold beer. Oberkircher added, "This time it's going to be uphill from Cooperstown Brewing Company to Brewery Ommegang, But it will be the same beauty and the fact is running is fun but it's more fun when you get a beer at the end."

Comments

This man should be ashamed of himself. How dare he attempt to take credit for this project. His lack of responsibility, planning and communication is what he should be taking credit for. I know for a fact that there were more people involved with the run than just "team oberkircher and his few students" who by the way really did nothing. From our understanding, ideas and suggestion that were brought to him, he knocked down and said it was not necessary. (ie: cups, shirts, toilets) and it is exactly we the people are complaining about now. How dare he not give credit to the habitat team members for their efforts in this race. A HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you needs to go the members of the habitat for humanity & other colleagues for their constant support and efforts on this. Next year is going to be so different and so much better.
