Over 650 seniors gathered at the Herkimer County Fair Grounds for their annual picnic.
The event was hosted by the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office and the District's Attorney's Office.
Sheriff Christopher Farber says today is a way to thank senior citizens for what they've done for the community.
One attendee tells Eyewitness News her secret to staying young.
"I'm glad to be here. It's wonderful. You wait to you are my age and you are going to say thank god I reached this milestone. You have to keep on the go. I thank god every day for one more day. And I walk every day and read and do my crossword puzzles," said Adeline La Gess, a Frankfort resident.
She says the picnic is a great way for seniors to enjoy the outdoors, especially for those who aren't able to walk so well.
