The man accused of killing a Utica woman in 2007 rejected a plea offer this morning in Oneida County Court.

30-year-old Craig Ingersoll turned down a deal to spend 22 years to life in prison if he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Now he faces 25 years to life in prison if he is convicted.

Ingersoll is accused in the killing and sexual assault of 29-year-old Jennifer Bennett in January 2007.

Ingersoll's defense attorney says they are planning for trial - and he says they have a strong argument that will fight the DNA implication investigators have been using thus far.

The hearing ended in a heated exchange between the families which ended in Bennett family being escorted out of the courthouse.

Ingersoll is due back in court July 31st.
