It's an afternoon of brews, food and sunshine. For the past fourteen years people have marked the first weekend in august on their calendars for the Utica Zoo Brewfest. This year Brewfest will feature over sixty microbreweries. Proceeds go to benefit the Utica Zoo and last year they raised nearly fifty thousand dollars. This year they hope to exceed the fifty thousand dollar mark. Organizers say this event is all about community.
Brewfest Chairman Gary Mundschenk says, "This event was founded on two thoughts. We A want to raise money for the Zoo but we also want to thank the people that helps us. Because there's a lot of people in the community that actually make this place run we couldn't do it by ourselves."
Beers lovers (and designated drivers) can enjoy Brewfest tomorrow evening from six to nine.
