Wild West Robbery at Desperado's in Herkimer

Police arrested two males after they broke into Desperado Western Wear on South Main Street in Herkimer. 

It happened on August 4, around 4:30 in the morning.   Police responded to the burglary in progress and saw a large display window broken at the store. Witnesses report seeing two males fleeing the area.

Patrols observed two men later near King St. and one was wearing a cowboy hat.  The males fled when they saw the patrol car and officers gave chase and quickly apprehended 21-year-old Steven Guyer of Herkimer.   

Guyer was found to be in possession of stolen property at the time of his arrest. He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.   Guyer was released on an appearance ticket.

The second male 22 year old Andrew J Bennett 22  was also arrested.  He was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass, Grand Larceny, and Trespass.  

He was sent to Herkimer County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
