Six people were rescued after their boat began taking on water and was sinking.
According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, officials responded to a 911 call for a 20-foot Starcraft boat that was sinking about four miles west of Sylvan Beach on Oneida Lake with six people onboard.
A rescue boat located the boat at around 2pm. The operator was 31-year-old Michael Romanowski.
Romanowski says he believes the cause of the sinking was due to a defective boat plug.
Sylvan Beach Fire Department's Water Rescue Vessel arrived on scene and transported 5 of the parties to the Emergency Wall of the Barge Canal in the Village of Sylvan Beach on behalf of OCSO.
The disabled vessel was towed to Snug Harbor Marina without further incident.
