"Yes! The horses are here!" Children at Camp Sitrin are finishing up the final week of camp and today's theme is backwards day. Campers wore shirts and sunglasses backwards but they also got a visit from some miniature sized friends.

9 year old Sophia Holmes says, "The horses aren't regular size and this isn't regular."

Camp Director Kara Arcuri says bringing in special animals is appropriate for the theme of camp. She says, "It fits with like the general idea of camp because you know you get kids that might live in the city and not have a whole lot of interaction with traditional farm animals. Their knowledge of animals might be dogs, cats, birds or lizards."

MaryLou and Bob Thall brought the Miniature Horses, MaryLou says, "In a camp setting like this I think it's great to introduce kids to what horses are. If they don't see them, some of the kids come from the city and never have a chance to meet them."

Camp Sitrin has been introducing children to fun activities for the past six years and the horses have been a hit for five of those years.

11 year old William Grant says, "When I came over to pet the miniature ponies I found out that one of them I knew from last year. So when I started petting them I was rejoiced because I knew that I could do this again."

14 year old Charlotte Arcuri says, "It is fun you just get to see the horses, it's not something you get to do every day."

Organizers of camp Sitrin try to introduce new activities every year but one staple is always the miniature horses

Grant added, "They're one of the things that I look forward to because I don't really get to do it anytime, anywhere else."

Camp Director Kara Arcuri added, "The kids that have been here ask every year if the horses are coming and when they're coming. So yeah it is definitely something the kids look forward to and are excited about."
