As students prepare for the new school year, so are area school districts now that New York's Dignity for All Students Act is in effect.
It's an anti-bullying law for public schools across the state to follow to provide an environment free of discrimination and harassment.
Monday night, the Oriskany Central School Board discussed the Dignity Act and how they will incorporate it into the curriculum. Jason evangelist, principal
"The biggest thing for us is to continue and nurture our learning community regardless of differences. And in those differences to celebrate those. We are all teachers to provide the best education for our students," says N.A. Walbran Elementary School's Principal Jason Evangelist.
Mr. Evangelist says students already follow an anti-bullying program called the "Walbran Way" where students are to be responsible, respectful and be safe.
