Automakers are reporting better than expected sales numbers for the month of August. This comes after sales were down in July. Of the three major u-s automakers, The Chrysler Group reported increased sales of more than fourteen percent. Some area car dealers say last year's tsunami was one reason sales were down last year.
Local Car Dealer Alex Carbone says, "The new car inventory is much more plentiful than it was last year. Of course you remember last year we had the tsunami and all the tragedies that affected our ability to get inventory, we're following the national trend."
Fuel efficient models were the most popular among car buyers last month.
