Fall is on it's way in Old Forge

Leaves changing and temperatures dropping can only mean one thing.
Fall is on it's way.
"I love it, I just love it!" said California resident, Sandy Chapman.
For an area that's open year round like Old Forge, gearing up for the upcoming season has been well underway.
"We've been working here for over a month, and the businesses here are prepped also. But, we lose that weekday heavy employment phase, and we move right into weekend business," said Publicity Director for the Town of Webb, Mike Farmer.
With more of a slower pace in the fall, business owner Chip Kiefer says the smaller crowds can actually be a plus when working with customers.
"It's a chance to go a little bit slower, and get to know a little bit more of our customers this time of year," said Kiefer.
Customers like Sandy Chapman and her friends who are visiting from California and Texas.
"For me, I love the fact that you can meander through the shops and take your time and look. You don't feel the hustle and bustle of the Summer traffic, it's just perfect," said Chapman.
Although Kiefer enjoys getting to know his customers on a more personal level, he says there are some challenges.
"The financial end of it is always a challenge in times other than summer. You still need to have a great deal of traffic if you can, trying to get people here during the week," said Kiefer.
"We always have to be one season ahead. We want to keep it in the front of people's minds. We show them, don't give up on us. Look what we have coming up next!" said Farmer.
Farmer says the peak time to check out the leaves is the third week in September and the first week in October.
