The two local incumbents took the lead early and never looked back as they moved forward in Thursday's primary races.

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, R-New Hartford moved on to the primaries with a solid victory of 3046 to Walden Mayor Brian Maher's 1596.   These numbers are with 92% of the precincts in, but Tenney is already celebrating.

Someone else celebrating in the 51st Senate District is Senator James Seward.

See James Seward's Victory Speech.

Seward, R-Milford bowled over opponent James Blake with 7667 votes to Blake's mere 1884.  Seward never lost a single county's populous vote.   This is with 96% of the precincts reporting.

Eyewitness News will have a breakdown of the counties early Friday and will finish filling in those precinct gaps.
