All across the country - some people are celebrating Constitution Week.
The Oneida chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution say it's
one of the country's least known official observances. But they're
trying to change this by holding events to educate the community about
the historical events surrounding our Constitution.
"Part of the DAR mission is to preserve history and to educate and to promote patriotism and this all kind of dovetails together because of the very foundation of who we are as citizens of this country rests on the Constitution," says Mary Cardinale, Oneida chapter NSDAR regent.
"I think it's important for everyone, especially younger people to recognize some of the rights the Constitution has to offer and what they actually mean," says Jeffrey Wolber, Utica College student.
The Oneida chapter of the DAR has also put up a display at the Dunham Library in Whitesboro. Constitution Week kicked off yesterday and will run through this Sunday, Septemmber 23rd.
