Thursday was the official start of the clothing drive "Empowering Women One Bra at a Time."
The drive is to collect new bras, underwear, and socks for girls and women and also clothing for boys.
They will be given to women who are at a shelter because of domestic violence.
Different boxes have been put out in Herkimer County, and one of the locations is a salon in Herkimer.
"There are millions of women out there that are going through this, and it's such a horrible thing, and for us to have the privilege here for the month of October collecting the undergarments is a big deal," said Hairdresser, Nicole Dillon.
Other locations include Kinney's in Little Falls and Dolgeville, Catholic Charities in Ilion, and more.
