Officials announced Tuesday night that the Utica Proctor teacher found dead at an Old Forge motel died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
They also say Catherine Koestner's boyfriend and witness to the incident is no longer cooperating with police.
Joseph Moore was interviewed a few days into the investigation, but since then he hired a lawyer. Moore's lawyer says he's already cooperated with police.
"When you are asked the same question over a period of time and you give the same answer what else is there. As far as I can see the role of police is to determine whether this woman shot herself or if someone else shot her. And she shot herself," said Frank Policelli, Moore's attorney.
Moore's attorney says Koestner and Moore had been dating for seven months and were talking about marriage.
He says it's unfortunate that his client lost the love of his life and officials are now casting him with a suspicious eye.
